Dear friends - as 2017 draws to a close it is important to me to connect with you all. So I am writing my first blog post! Hehehe.
Today is actually my son Ravi’s birthday and it seems appropriate to share with you something that is quite special to me. Ravi is becoming more and more involved with Kaiut Yoga, dreaming what I dream. As a part of his apprenticeship, he will be coming with me to North America next year for some of the teacher training programs and thus I hope many of you will have an opportunity to meet him.
And luck for me it doesn’t end there. Ravi’s best friend - an American from Colorado, Jackson - is living with us in Brazil right now and beginning to dream the same dream. He is becoming another young American protege of Kaiut Yoga and I am thankful for his presence, energy and interest in this work.
I came to the realization lately that this work, the future of yoga really, is to be an evolutionary asset for humankind. While yoga was first developed as a practice 5000 or so years ago, I do believe it was actually created for this time, for this moment in history. With social evolution, there has never been a time where we have been so focused, so productive and so sedentary. Yoga is an amazing cleansing tool to free the system from this status. As many of you have heard me say, it is hygiene for the body and the mind.
And finally, I’m thrilled that our international franchise program is up and running with Yvonne’s studio opening in Telluride this past November, Laura’s opening in Broomfield in January, and others opening later in 2018. With the intimate connection I will have with these franchisee teachers, I feel it is the right time and place to begin to introduce more than the first 100 class plans to the international community. I will be working with them over time to present Program II, III, IV and eventually Program V and VI to their students. As they develop as teachers, and as their student base builds a history with the work, they will be working with close to 600 different class plans - an amazing variety and thus, opportunity to make a dramatic difference in the health and potential of their systems. I will also work with these franchise teachers to develop a workshop program, a retreat model, a meditation program and special individualized classes for their students. Lots of work to be done!
So I end 2017 feeling incredibly grateful - for my son Ravi and his friend Jackson, for how this practice is evolving and for our growing community, which includes you.
Practice with inspiration over the holidays and enjoy the downtime with family and friends. Hope to see you all as soon in the new year in Toronto or around the US.
