It has been amazing to be here in Brazil this week with Francisco and the wonderful team at the Kaiut Yoga School. I've been able to take 2-3 classes a day and spend hours with Francisco better understanding the work. For those of you that practice this method you would be surprised by its evolution since the last time Francisco was in North America.
First of all as you can see above, he is now researching its application for canines starting with his dog Qaro. Seriously speaking, the work has evolved significantly.
Yoga has always been about using the body to impact the mind. As such, Francisco has always focused on instructing what to do with the body during practice, working from the joints. Now in addition to hearing his voice instruct what to do with your body however, one also hears what to do with your mind - where, how and on what to focus your thoughts.
I came to Brazil following a stressful time - the regular stuff we all have to juggle: a busy time at work, kids and their active schedules, my husband away on business, finding out my son needs treatment for an evolving disorder, a tough conversation with my parents, and what I like to call homework (otherwise known as household chores!). My nervous system was super charged. And now? That feeling is significantly reduced. It's amazing what happens when we practice consistently, isn't it? Even if our practice is interrupted by our dog, our practice works to interrupt the swirl in our minds that disregulates us.
Now the question is how to practice 2-3 times a day when I am back at home!
